The pictures we got from the keyword assignment were amazing, I'd like to give some more for you to try. This isn't an assignment, just some words to strike up some creativity!

Winners of the Composition Tips Assignment!

Okay everybody, the results are in! I absolutely loved the results we got from these two assignments. I especially liked the variety of pictures we got from the key words. Everybody put a different twist to each word. As I looked over your pics, I got so excited to see you out there using your cameras, and it looks like your having fun while you do it!

So, since I don't have the winning pictures here, I'm asking you to post them yourselves! If you're one of the winners, please post them on our blog site. I would also love for you to email them to me so that I can get them on the Fine Arts Center's web site! My email address is trustarust@q.com!

Here are the winners
:

For the assignment on the composition tips:

For creativity, technical ability and the way she followed the assignment, Janna won first place with a near perfect score of 14.75 out of 15! Leslie came in second place with a score of 13.13!

For the assignment on Key Words:

For creativity, technical, and following the assignment, Janna again won first place with a score of 14.75 out of 15! Leslie came in second again, with a score of 13.27!

I saw amazing pictures this week guys, and in my next post I'm going to give a few more key words. This isn't an "assignment", but if you just need something to get you out there taking pictures, this might help out. If you do use the key words, please develop them and show the class, or easier yet, post them on the blog and let people know what you did!

Invitation for posting

Tina brought it to my attention, that I was the only one who could post to this blog. Well, I did a little research and figured out how to invite more people. All you have to do is email me at trustarust@q.com, or post a comment to this post, with your email address. It may have to be a gmail account, but it is free to get one. I'll do a little more digging, and we'll cover this in class. Go ahead and let me know your email, and I'll send you an invitation to post.

Winner of the Self Portraiture Assignment!

Congrats to Andre Pommier whose picture was selected as winner of the Self Portraiture Assignment! This assignment was maybe a little scarier for everybody to try! I love this picture, Andre did a good job making the picture "describe" who he his and what he enjoys! Very creative!!

Winners of the Portraiture Assignment

Well, the ballots have been cast, and the winners of the Basic Photography Class's Portraiture Assignment have been selected. There was a two way tie for first place!!

In no particular order, we have Tina Walker's Halloween Picture:

Then we have Ethel Bowcutt's picture:

Congratulations you guys!

Everybody had absolutely awesome pictures! Just because they didn't get selected to win, doesn't mean that you can't place them on this blog. Put them in here and then tell your friends and family to check out your picture! By the way, if you click on the photos, you will get the enlarged photo. These were a little warped when I tried to resize them to fit in the posting, but look a lot better in their original size-so click on the picture to get actual effects.

Well, we're going to try this again . . .
I took this picture of my daughter one day after putting her in a cute little dress. Ironically enough, this picture (where you can't even see the dress) is our favorite! She just looks so cute and innocent.
Can you say scrapbook moment?
I had her in natural (but not direct) light, I wonder if I should have used a reflector for the side of her face farthest from the camera?
I used a pentax istDL and had my aperture set at 4.5. I wanted to be able to use a fairly fast shutter speed so that I could eliminate as much motion from the subject as possible. I also like the depth of field it gave me, drawing the attention to her eyes and her beautiful little fingers.
Tell me what you think. What would you have done differently?

A call for photos!

Hello everybody! Welcome to our very own Amatuer's Photography blog. My reason for starting a photography blog, was so that we could post our photos and ask others for critiques. I thought it would be great to blog tips we've heard or discovered on our own. It might be handy to list websites that you've found useful in your progression as a photographer.

For my class, Basic Photography, I will list practice subjects as well as ideas of where to go to get good shots for class assignments.

I would like to see everyone post their favorite, or not so favorite photos. Let us know what equipment you were using to get said shot, and let us know any tips you used to get it. Were the results what you expected? Why or why not?

Have fun, and enjoy the journey!

Well, tried to upload a picture and ran into an error from the blogger. I will keep trying to work on this!
